“SOMEDAY 2.0″ – The original play/mini musical written and performed by the students of Inman Middle School’s Theater Department is back!! Thursday, May 17, 2012, beginning at 6:30 in Inman’s auditorium. Tickets ($2 per student; $4 per adult) and refreshments will be sold at the door.

The play is a series of small plays of interactions between and among the performers about what might happen “someday.” As it is written, choreographed and performed by the students, with input from Mr. Baker the theater teacher, the magic is the students’ ownership of the entire production. It should run for less than 1 hour.

Report #2:

Odd behavior on Harold Avenue, reported by one of your neighbors:

I had a Uhaul truck appear in front of my house. One of the drivers got out and knocked on my door…then started to kick it until my dog came downstairs and started to bark. The individual got into the truck and drove off. I called 911, the police came and are on the look out for it. The driver and occupant are african american males, in their 40′s, one wearing a black shirt (heavy set, possibly bald) and another a white shirt (slight build, afro).

This happened on Harold Ave near McLendon.

Message from Sherry of the Schools Committee!

Hello everyone: If you have a child who will be a kindergartener during the 2012-2013 school year, I want to make sure you have some important information.

First, the annual Mary Lin Kindergarten Roundup is Tuesday, MAY 1ST at 9:30 a.m. in the Mary Lin Auditorium. It’s a great opportunity for parents/guardians of rising kindergarteners to meet the kindergarten team and hear about what’s in store for the upcoming year. You are highly encouraged to bring your rising kindergartener to meet other kids that will be entering in August and to hang out in a kindergarten classroom with a current kindergarten class. You will also get information about registering your child for school. For more information, email peggyfromli@gmail.com or call the Mary Lin office at 404-802-8850.

Second, the School Supply Sale starts Monday, April 30. I encourage you to purchase a school supply packet ahead of time. Last year, I bought my child’s supplies individually once I got the list, but this year we will definitely buy a supply packet. Why? Because (1) it’s much cheaper than buying supplies individually, (2) the packet will contain every supply your child needs – some of them are difficult to find without going to a speciality store like the School Box or shopping online, and (3) you, like me, may remember the days of picking out individualized “special” school supplies (like that huge box of crayons) but most of the teachers pool the supplies and dole them out to the kids as needed, so it’s better to save the special school/craft supplies for home. I will note, though, that teachers always appreciate extra paper towel, tissues, hand sanitizer, etc.! Here’s the announcement from the Mary Lin Rocket. What it doesn’t mention is that you’ll be able to purchase packets online at http://www.marylinelementary.com/Mary_Lin_Store.html.

The School Supply Sale is Coming!

Starting Monday, April 30th, you can purchase your child’s school supplies for the 2012-13 school year.

Believe it or not, this school year is almost over, and this means it’s already school supply time.

You can buy these items individually but avoid the lines and driving around for items! You can buy directly from Mary Lin PTA via EPI and have everything you need for the start of school.

These school supply packs are not sold at the beginning of school, so you must purchase them at the end of this year.

Pass this info around to friends and new families to Mary Lin. More info coming soon!

Questions? Contact: Teresa Tinney at wheelertinney@hotmail.com

Finally, if you cannot attend the Roundup, I have included registration information below. (Even if you can attend, it’s a good idea to review the information so that you can get any questions answered at the Roundup. Please note that Ms. Huff, whose email is provided below, is on maternity leave (twins!) and won’t return until July. I highly, highly recommend you register before the end of the year while the school is fully staffed. If you cannot come until summer, I would definitely recommend calling first to make sure registrations are being accepted that day.

Parents,

Registration for kindergarten students will be accepted May 2nd– May 18th, Monday – Friday, between the hours of 9:00 – 1:30. PLEASE DO NOT COME BEFORE 9:00 OR AFTER 1:30 TO REGISTER. If you are unable to register during this time, you may register during the summer. Our summer registration dates are as follows (Please call before coming to make sure the office will be open.):

· June 25th– 29th

· July 9th– July 19th

· July 24 – July 31st

Summer registration hours are Monday – Friday, 10:00am – 2:00pm.

Below is a list of documents that must be provided to register your child for the upcoming school year. At the Kindergarten Round-Up on May 1st, we will go over the registration packet and answer any questions concerning the process.

PLEASE NOTE: Original documents must be provided at the time of enrollment. We will make copies of the originals, or you may bring a set of copies which will expedite the process.
