Groups & People

  • Lake Claire Neighbors meets every third Thursday of the month at the Frazer Center, at the north end of Ridgewood Road.
    • Plans neighborhood events, such as the annual Halloween Kids Parade
    • Reviews variances to city zoning within Lake Claire
    • Help maintain Lake Claire Park and the Harold Ave Greenspace
    • Provides a community voice to city elected representatives.
    • Distributes the renowned monthly newsletter, the Clarion (read online)
    • Place to meet neighbors that may share independent specialty interests including some listed below.

  • The Lake Claire Garden Club has helped keep our park and yards blooming since the 1930s. Contact garden {at} lakeclaire.org.

  • The Lake Claire Parents Group is a growing group of families with infants to pre-school aged children. Started in 2004, there are approximately 50 families to date. We communicate through our yahoo groups web site where playgroups, local activities, events and news is shared. If you have young children and want to form a playgroup or need to find information about area babysitters, pediatricians or pre-schools this is the group for you!   • Peavine Watershed Alliance has received grants for stream clean-up and watershed improvements.

  • Lake Claire Community Land Trust is a non-profit neighborhood member organization promoting community green space, community gardening, neighborhood pot lucks on the 13th, and educational year round activities.

  • Tree Climbers International has two trees at Arizona & New York Avenues.  Climbs are at 2pm every 1st & 3rd Sunday, weather permitting.

  • Lake Claire Cohousing, the first cohousing development in Georgia, was founded in 1997. Cohousing is a form of intentional community. (More information on cohousing.) Our 13 households own their own townhomes, but share ownership and maintenance of the common house and other common property.   • Freedom Park Conservancy oversees the development of the largest new urban park of the twentieth century.

  • Clifton Sanctuary Ministries has, for more than 27 years, offered a place of rest, shelter, healing and support in the Lake Claire neighborhood to the homeless men of Atlanta. Open 365 days a year, Night Hospitality is the oldest shelter in Atlanta operating in a house of worship (the former Clifton Presbyterian Church). The staff, volunteers, board of directors and guests invite you to become acquainted with our ministry.  More specifically, we hope you will be moved to action and become a part of this ministry.   See Contact Us page for our liaison to Clifton Sanctuary Ministries.
