2001 Gordon Avenue Housing Code Controversy (Photos Below) Below are photos of the Gordon Avenue house that has been in the news. The City of Atlanta Office of Housing Code Compliance has been working with the property owner on and off for over ten years to obtain voluntary compliance with City housing codes. At the request of LCN's 2001 Lake Claire President, Robbie Collins, our Zone 6 Police Community Liaison (Inspector Ruby Naylor) took on the role of ombudsman to try to bring closure to this issue. Inspector Ruby Naylor tried to obtain voluntary compliance from the owner, and finding the owner unable or unwilling to comply, turned the matter back over to the Office of Housing Code Compliance. Inspector Naylor was able to obtain theCity's best efforts in resolving the situation. An Officer with the Office of Housing Code Compliance, Ms. Sandra Griffin, met with the owner of the Gordon Street property for several months in hopes of obtaining voluntary compliance . The owner was unwilling or unable to clean up the property and bring it up to code. Consequently, the owner was issued four citations by the Housing Code Officer to motivate his cooperation. He still refused to comply voluntarily and was fined and given 6 months, both of which will be suspended if he complies.
